Kingfisher Bay Resort

Kingfisher Ferry Service

The Kingfisher Bay Ferry has four services to the resort each day from River Heads and return. This ferry has two decks with a fully licensed bar and snack food available. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes.

Address: Shop 7/54, River Heads Shopping Village, River Heads Road, River Heads, Queensland 4655. (Note: River Heads Road becomes Ariadne Street at the Shopping Village)

 

Guests are advised to arrive at the mainland reception 40 minutes prior to ferry departure for check in. A courtesy shuttle from the Mainland Reception to ferry will leave 10 minutes prior to ferry departure time. If your ferry is departing prior to 8:30am, please continue straight down River Heads Road, for check in at The Ticket Hut. 

 

NOTE: Unless specified, ferry costs are not included in your resort room rate.

Pre-booking passenger ferry or vehicle ferry transfers is recommended.

The Kingfisher Bay ferry schedule is as follows:

Departure from River Heads to Kingfisher Bay Resort: 7.00am, 9.00am, 1.00pm & 3.45pm
Departure from Kingfisher Bay Resort to River Heads: 8.00am, 10.15am, 2.30pm & 5.00pm

River Heads Mainland Reception / Ticket Hut:

This office will operate 7 days a week to provide services to barge, tours and resort guests. 

River Heads Mainland Reception will open from 08:00am - 16:00pm

The Ticket Hut (Located by the River Heads Boat Ramp) is open from 06:30 - 13:00 and 13:45 - 16:00pm daily, closed on Christmas Day.

Secure Car Parking

Car parking is available in the secure lot at Kingfisher Bay Mainland Reception, for those not taking a vehicle across to Fraser Island.

Where to Eat and Drink

Dune Restaurant

Perfect for a romantic dinner or a relaxed evening with friends, Dune’s Asian-fusion menu offers something for everyone. From aromatic curries and stir-fries to fresh seafood, chicken, beef, duck, and vibrant vegetable dishes, you’re guaranteed a feast of vibrant flavors.

Pair your meal with a freshly shaken cocktail, ice-cold beer, or wine from the adjacent Rainforest Bar, and enjoy alfresco dining on the deck overlooking the lagoon pool.

Bookings are essential, with indoor and outdoor seating available.

Located on the middle level of the Main Resort Complex.

Maheno Bar

Select from an extensive beverage list or order a range of light snacks and bar bites to enjoy throughout the afternoon.

This outlet is the main bar of the resort's Centre Complex and is adjacent to Sand & Wood Restaurant. Featuring new-look high top bar and booth seating.

Sunset Bar

After a day of island adventures, why not retreat to the western beach, sip on a refreshing cocktail and bask in that golden glow. It's undoubtedly the perfect way to round-out your day in paradise!

Perch yourself on the deck, head down to the umbrellas in the sand, or laze comfortably into one of our beach bean bags - there's endless spots to kick back, relax and enjoy the view.

Sand Bar & Bistro

Enjoy made-to-order pizzas, burgers, fresh salads, and more in a relaxed setting just a short stroll from the beach. With spacious decks offering glimpses of the Great Sandy Strait and poolside dining, it’s a true taste of the Aussie lifestyle.

Unwind with a cool drink on the shady deck while the kids enjoy the gaming arcade or nearby pools. Perfect for a quick, tasty meal after a day outdoors!

Join our Rangers on a one-hour eco-adventure across the sands of Kingfisher Bay with our fleet of green machines - Segway Personal Transporters.

After a fun obstacle challenge to test out your skills, guests will embark on an off-road adventure, cruising up to speeds of 10km an hour along the Great Sandy Strait – with some fun Fraser Island facts along the way!
